About Lively Faith
Lively Faith Ministries was founded to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ on the authority of Holy Scripture and Church Tradition, and to equip others to do the same.
Our goal is to provide high-quality, orthodox Christian resources for believers across liturgical denominations who hunger for teachings that confront hard truths. Our team and contributors share a passion for this goal and an affection for the English Common Prayer Tradition.
We are an ally for the Faithful in the fight to defend the Gospel.
What is Lively Faith?
Our name “Lively Faith” is rooted in Scripture and the venerable Common Prayer Tradition. “Faith” by itself, without love in action, is dead (James 2:17). For though we are justified before God, only for the merits of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ by Faith alone, and not for our own works or because we deserve it; good works are the fruit of our Faith and follow after Justification, are pleasing to God in Christ, and do spring out necessarily of a true and lively Faith (Articles 11 and 12, Thirty-Nine Articles of Religion, 1571).
What do we Believe?
We boldly affirm and defend the historic orthodox Christian Faith of the One Holy Catholic (Universal) and Apostolic Church as revealed in the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments and as confessed in the Apostles’, Nicene, and Athanasian Creeds.
While we are not formally affiliated with any one denomination, we share an affection for the English Common Prayer Tradition and believe it to be a most effective means of worshipping the Triune God, teaching and sharing the Faith, and fostering personal piety.
We affirm that the true Church is a Universal Congregation or fellowship of God’s faithful and elect people, “built upon the foundation of the Apostles and Prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the head cornerstone (Ephesians 2:20).” Lively Faith also affirms the distinct evangelical belief that the Church Catholic always has three marks by which it is known: Pure doctrine, the Sacraments ministered according to Christ’s holy institution, and the right use of Ecclesiastical Discipline. We thus strive to operate in accordance with these affirmations as a parachurch ministry: an organization which works alongside the Church in support of local congregations, and not as a replacement thereof.
What is An Anglican Common Prayer Book?
Finished in 2018 and updated in 2021, An Anglican Common Prayer Book was compiled over many years as a labor of love for the venerable Common Prayer Tradition. It primarily uses elements from the Anglican 1662 Book of Common Prayer (re-worked for modern English) but also synthesizes a few elements from the Episcopal 1979 BCP, Cranmer’s 1552 BCP, and other select prayers from across the Anglican synthesis. While originally compiled for use by local Evangelical Anglican congregations, it may be used freely by any individual Christian or Congregation in the Church Universal.
Lively Faith uses An Anglican Common Prayer Book out of love for the Anglican heritage, which we view as a most effective and distinct means of taking the Gospel to the world, within a tradition uniquely rooted in the specific practices of the undivided Church through the Council of Nicaea (325AD).
